We will continue practicing at 8:00 am every morning until Christmas Break. The girls will be learning their contest hip hop routine after school on Friday, December 9th starting at 4:30 pm. We will try to get finished with that choreography by 7:30... please make arrangements to stay after that day! Also remember that the girls will be trying out for contest routines during the 1st period semester exam.

There will be a UIL grade check with the report card grades coming up in a few weeks - you must be eligible at this grade check to participate in contest season!! Make sure you are taking care of your grades in the next few weeks before Christmas Break!!

Reminders & New Policies

Hello all!! I want to start off by saying I am very happy with how the season is going so far. The girls continue to improve, and I know our Homecoming performances are going to be GREAT!

I want to make you all aware of some new things we will be implementing on Monday, September 19th.

  • If you have a 75 or below in any of your classes, you will be required to attend tutoring during lunch or after school 2 times per week. You can't be successful in Kangarettes if you don't pass your classes :) We don't want to lose anyone to eligibility, so please understand this tutoring is for your own good.
Please make sure that your ride is at the school to pick you up promptly after football games and Monday evening practices. For home games you can estimate that your ride needs to be at the school by 10:45 pm. Monday evening practices are over at 8:00 pm, so your ride should be outside waiting at 8:00 pm.

Hello all!

It's hard to believe it - but next week is spring show week!! Look below for the practice schedule (everyone should have a copy also). I know it's a LOT of practice, but it will be totally worth it! Please make sure you look over the schedule and are ON TIME for these practices... it is very important that I have everyone present and focused so we can be ready for the show!

If you ordered extra spring show shirts, they are here!! I will not distribute the shirts until you have paid - so please turn your $10 in ASAP!! Also - make sure you are selling tickets!! Remember, adult admission goes up from $8 to $10 at the door, so try to sell tickets in advance.

Parents - I have added a couple of practices for next week. If you can come, great! If not, not a big deal. If you would like the music for the dance, please send a CD and I will make a copy of it for you to practice at home. For the dress rehearsal on Friday, you are all welcome to come and practice that night as well so that you have a good idea of how things will work on Saturday night for the show. Again, if you can't make it - not a problem, just make sure you are practicing at home!!

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns that I can help with... Good luck with the rest of TAKS testing and get some rest this weekend - we are all going to need some extra energy next week!!

Updates

Hello everyone!

Spring show is approaching fast... we only have 2 more weeks of normal practice before TAKS testing, and the week after TAKS is the week of spring show!!

Here are a few reminders:

* Friday night 4/15 - Middle School Dance Showcase (girls need to be READY at 6:00 in the auditorium lobby...); The show will start at 7:00 and will likely be over between 8 and 8:30; There is no admission to this event... Please come out to support not only the Kangarettes but all of the wonderful middle school dance teams in Killeen.

* Ads for the Spring Show program are due next Thursday 4/21 - no exceptions... if you need more AD forms, please let me know!

* We will start selling tickets for Spring Show on Monday 4/18... there will be a contest for who sells the most tickets.

IMPORTANT: Parents - if you would like to purchase a t-shirt for spring show, please let me know what size (or sizes) you will need by this Friday, April 15th. The shirt will be a short sleeve black t-shirt and will cost $10 or less (the more shirts we order, the less expensive they will be). I have to turn in the final size count on Friday afternoon - so if you would like a shirt PLEASE let me know by Friday at NOON. I will let you know early next week what the final cost of the shirt is.

Parents - we will be doing a parent's dance again this year for the show. The more of you that participate, the more fun it will be! The dance will be short and simple. We will have practice for the parent's dance on Monday, April 18th and Wednesday April 20th from 5:45 to 6:30 pm. If you can't come to both practices, that's okay... just send your daughter to hold your spot and then she can teach it to you later. I know everyone that participated last year had a lot of fun and it was really cool for the girls to see their parents on stage :)

If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know!

Hello Everyone! Here's an update on what's going on this week!

Monday: Spring Show Pictures! Be READY in the dance room @ 8 am... this is the only day that Mrs. Mueller will be coming up to school for the pictures, so everyone needs to be ready to go so that we can get all the shots we need for the program and posters.

Tuesday - Thursday: We will finish finale and start working on the opener for spring show.

Friday: Study Hall - No practice

Here are a few things to keep in mind...
  • You should be selling your ADS for the program... remember spring show and the program are BIG fundraisers for us! If you need more forms for ads, please let me know... I have plenty of extras!
  • We will start selling tickets in the next week or so... just something to keep in mind.
  • Be thinking about ideas for skits - talk to the social officers about your ideas.
DON'T FORGET - We will be guest performing in the Middle School Dance Showcase at KHS on Friday, April 15th. You will need to be in the dance room READY at 6:00.
