Hello all!

Here is the practice schedule for next week:

Monday - Practice @ 8:00 am
Tuesday - NO practice (TAKS testing)
Wednesday - Practice @ 8:00 am/Officer practice after school until 5:30
Thursday - Practice @ 8:00 am
Friday - Report to Kangarette room @ 8:30 ready to leave for San Antonio

I am sending home an itinerary for the San Antonio trip as well as a March calendar tomorrow (Friday) morning. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns!

Also - If you are returning next year, don't forget the mandatory parent meeting on Thursday, March 10th @ 6:00 pm. The tryout packets will be handed out at this meeting!!

Here is a rundown of all of the awards the girls won on Saturday... If you are interested in buying patches - visit DanceADTS.com to order them online OR you can wait and buy them in San Antonio. Great job ladies!!

Hello everyone!! I can't tell you all how proud I am of how well the girls did this past weekend at Ellison... they did such a great job. I'm super excited about the San Antonio contest - think about how awesome they will be with 3 more weeks of practice and the help of professional feedback.

**REMINDER: If you are doing your solo/duet in San Antonio - you MUST be paid up by tomorrow. Please get this taken care of so that I can finalize registration tomorrow!!!

Here is the schedule for the rest of the week as well as next week:

Wednesday & Thursday: Practice @ 8:00 am

Friday is an early out... No practice, 1st period only

Next Monday - No school

Next Tuesday - Friday: Practice @ 8:00 am

Wednesday 2/23 - Officer practice after school until 5:30 pm

School Closed Wednesday

School will be closed today - so there will be no practice today.

Hopefully we will be able to practice as scheduled tomorrow! I will keep you updated.

Ellison High School

Report time to KHS: 7:00 am (We will leave KHS @ 7:30 am) – Eat breakfast!!!

What to wear to competition…

• Kangarette windsuit (pants & jacket), new team t-shirt, and converse
• Tights (NO underwear) & clear-strap bra on
• Hair needs to be done before we leave KHS
• Left-side part, low ponytail (straight or curly)
• Bobby pin or hair spray all fly-aways/bangs/etc…
• I will give you rhinestone ponytail holder that morning
• Make-up needs to be done before we leave school
• Purple eye shadow, eyelashes on… Lipstick can wait until we arrive @ EHS
• NO jewelry or nail polish (I will give you earrings that morning)
  

PACKING LIST

• Costumes
• Costumes need to be hung neatly in hanging bag
• Everything else will go in your maroon K-rette shoulder bag
• Soloists/Duets… make sure you have something appropriate to wear!
• Skin-colored bra with clear straps (You may wear a flesh bodysuit with clear straps if you want)
• Dance shoes – Black jazz shoes & foot undeez
• Extra pair of tights (check BOTH pair for damages)
  
• Bobby pins/ Safety pins/ Hair spray/gel/ Extra ponytail holders
• Performance Make-up (purple eye shadow & red lipstick) & Eyelashes
• Feminine products
• Snacks and bottled water (Make sure these will fit in your K-rette bag with your other stuff!)
• MONEY – you will need money for food and t-shirts/patches

**Remember to keep your area in the dressing room neat & clean… we have several “quick” changes. Keep track of your costumes and other belongings throughout the day.

**Parents need to keep visits to the dressing room to a minimum – small room, lots of people and lots of stuff = not a good combination.

**All food from the concession area needs to be eaten in the cafeteria – don’t bring it to the dressing room. When you are eating, make sure you are protecting your costumes by wearing your windsuit!!!

Contest Schedule:

Doors open @ 8:00 am

(Spectator admission = $8 per person; 4 yrs & under/65 yrs & over = FREE)

**Team & Officer events will be in Main Gym; Solos & Duets will be in Auditorium**

If a Kangarette is dancing, you will be sitting together in the audience supporting your team; Remember all of the contest etiquette we have discussed!!

9:20 am -- Officer Jazz -- Red dress, tights, foot undeez

10:08 am -- Officer Lyrical -- Maroon top, black leggings, tights, foot undeez

10:48 am -- Officer Modern -- Maroon dress, tights, foot undeez

**Grab a quick snack; Everyone needs to be completely ready for JAZZ at 11:45 am.

12:12 pm -- Team Jazz -- White shirt, silver vest, red tie, black hot shorts, black fishnets, tights, foot undeez

12:44 pm -- Team Lyrical -- Blue dress, tights, foot undeez

**Lunch… quickly get something to eat, and then get ready for POM before we go to the auditorium to watch the duet and solos (Make sure you wear your jacket). Be ready at 1:30 pm.

**After Hip Hop, you need to pack up and clean out the dressing room. Change back into windsuit, team shirt, and converse. You will take your bags into the stands in the main gym to watch the remainder of the competition. You may get food or shop for souvenirs at this time.

**Soloists – be prepared to put your costume back on if you make solo finalist!

5:45 pm -- Awards Ceremony

6:45 pm -- Farewells

After the awards ceremony, we will take a group picture and you will have time to buy souvenirs. We will load the buses and head back to KHS – we should be back by 8:00 pm.

Solo/Duet Fees - San Antonio Contest

The solo duet fees for the San Antonio contest are supposed to be due this Thursday, February 10th. I will extend the deadline to Tuesday, February 15th. Please make sure if you plan to do a solo or duet in San Antonio, your fees are paid to the cashier by this date.

Solos = $75/Duets = $120

Contest Week!!

It's here - the week before contest! It is super important that you are on time and at practice every day this week. We need to stay focused all week so that we can reach our goals on Saturday... remember what we have been working towards and why you are part of this team!!

Here is a schedule for the week:

Monday

• I will be here until 5:15 this afternoon for anyone that would like to practice solos, duets, anything else

Tuesday

• Morning practice @ 7:45 am
• Officer practice after school 4:15 - 5:15 pm
  
• Basketball Game - Report time @ 6:00 pm (Completely ready)
• We will perform the HIP HOP routine
  
• Wear black v-fronts, KHS top, converse
• Hair = left-side part, low ponytail

Wednesday

• Morning practice @ 7:45 am
• I will be discussing final contest information @ practice, including performance times
  
• Officer practice after school 4:15 - 5:45 pm

Thursday

• Morning practice @ 7:45 am
• Mandatory after school practice 4:15 - 6:00 pm

Friday

• Morning practice @ 7:45 am
• We will double check all costumes and make sure we are ready to go for Saturday
• Optional solo practice after school until 5:00 pm
  

Saturday - Contest Day!!! We will be competing at Ellison HS... please encourage your family, friends, and teachers to come support us this weekend!! You have been working very hard, so let's take the opportunity to show-off to our community.

Friday - Update

Hello everyone - hope you are staying warm!!

We will still be practicing this afternoon (Thursday) until 6:00 pm.

Tomorrow (Friday) morning - I'm a little nervous about the weather conditions. Just to be safe, I am going to cancel early practice. We will still practice during 1st period... as long as we are in school.

Only one more week until contest... I'm really excited!! I will have the final information about the contest, including a performance schedule, on Wednesday of next week.

Again, PLEASE make sure that you have everything you will need for contest... dance shoes, 2 pairs of tights in good condition, flesh-colored bra with clear straps (or a bodysuit), eyelashes, etc... Refer to the packing list in the orange packet to make sure you are ready to go!!

Game CANCELLED tonight

The basketball game for tonight has been cancelled due to weather. The game has been rescheduled to tomorrow - but we will NOT be dancing at it.

Stay warm this evening and dress warm for tomorrow... it will be VERY cold! Practice will be as scheduled tomorrow morning at 7:45 am.
