Next Week's Schedule

Hello all... First of all, it's been a GREAT week at practice. We've accomplished a lot, and are really moving in the right direction towards contest. Our first contest is 2 weeks from tomorrow :)

Here is next week's schedule - It's very important that you are here and on time everyday!

Monday

• Team practice @ 7:45 am
• Officer practice after school - 4:15 to 5:15 pm

Tuesday

• Team practice @ 7:45 am
• I will be in the room after school if you would like to practice your solo!
  
• Basketball game vs. University (Hip Hop Routine)
  
• Report time is 6:00 pm (completely ready); Game starts @ 6:30
• Wear KHS top, v-fronts, converse, hair = left-side part, low ponytail
• You will be free to go after halftime

Wednesday

• Team practice @ 7:45 am
• NO after school practice - I will not be here!

Thursday

• Team practice @ 7:45 am
• Mandatory after school team practice - 4:15 to 6:00 pm

Friday

• Team practice @ 7:45 am

Updates and Reminders

Hello all... Here are a few updates and reminders!! The next 3 weeks are going to be really, really busy so just bear with me and keep a positive attitude!!

Practice this week

• Every morning @ 7:45
• Remember - if you are late more than 2 times in a week, you owe me a clean section of the mirror by Friday afternoon!
• Soloists - The room will be open for you to practice every afternoon until at least 5:00 (except for Wednesday). Please take advantage of this opportunity to practice your solo FULL OUT.
• Officer Practice - Wednesday afternoon - 4:15 to 5:45
  

Basketball games

• Friday, January 28th -- Officers ONLY; Report @ 5:15 completely ready; Wear KHS top, crops, converse (white ankle socks); Hair = left-side part, low ponytail
  
• Tuesday, February 1st -- Team Hip Hop; Report @ 6:00 completely ready; Wear KHS top, v-fronts, converse (black or white socks please); hair = left-side part, low ponytail
• Tuesday, February 8th -- Team Jazz; Report @ 6:00 completely ready; Wear KHS top, v-fronts, black jazz shoes; hair = left-side part, low ponytail
  

Mandatory After-school Practices

• Thursday, February 3rd and Thursday, February 10th
• Practice will be from 4:15 to 6:00

Contest!!!!

• First contest - Saturday, February 12th @ Ellison HS
• The girls were given a bright orange packet last Friday at practice with lots of information regarding contest season
• Included in the packet was a packing list of things that they will need for contest... Make sure you are getting these things together now and not waiting until the last minute
  
• Double check your tights, shoes, make-up, purchase eye lashes, etc...
• Second contest - Saturday, March 5th in San Antonio (more details coming)
  
• Solo/duet fees for Contest #2 DUE by Thursday, February 10th (Solos = $75/Duets = $120)
  

Tryouts for 2011-2012

• It's hard to believe that tryouts are coming up in just 2 short months! I wanted to give you some important dates to mark on your calendars now...
• Mandatory Parent Meeting - Thursday, March 10th @ 6 pm (KHS cafeteria)
• Tryout Clinic - Monday 3/28 - Wednesday 3/30 - 4:30 to 6:00 (KHS gym)
• Actual Tryout Day - Thursday 3/31 starting @ 4:30 in Kangarette room

Basketball Game - Tomorrow

Our first basketball game is tomorrow!!

• Report time is 5:00 pm (we will practice)
• Wear black v-fronts, KHS top, black jazz shoes
• Hair left-side part, low ponytail (straight or curly)
• NO jewelry or nail polish
• The game starts at 6:30, you will be free to go after halftime

Reminders!

Hope everyone is having a great week and you are doing well on all of your exams!!

Just a few reminders before the long weekend...

• Tomorrow (Friday 1/14) is the LAST day for me to approve solos. I will be in the dance room tomorrow morning by 8:30 - and will stay after school until 4:00. Remember tomorrow the schedule starts late and ends early.
• Tomorrow is your last opportunity to talk to your teachers about your grades... make sure you are passing!!!
• Tuesday night - 1st basketball performance!! Report time @ 5:00; KHS top, black pants, black jazz shoes; Hair = left-side part, low ponytail.
• Solo/duet fees for the 1st contest are due by next Thursday (1/20)... make sure you go to the cashier and pay so that I can finalize your registration!!

I was very impressed with everyone at tryouts earlier this week. Please use that same intensity at EVERY practice from now on... contest is only 4 weeks away :) Get excited!!!

Remember to wear your Friday practice top (black k-rette racerback) with either black capris or black pants. Make sure your hair is put up and out of your face!!!

Welcome Back!!

Welcome back everyone and Happy New Year... I hope that you all had a wonderful break!! I just wanted to remind everyone of some important things coming up for the K-rettes!!

Semester exams are next week... Take the time to talk to your teachers NOW and attend tutoring if necessary. Eligibility for contest season is based on the 2nd nine weeks grades, so PLEASE make sure you are taking care of business and passing your classes!!!

Practice this week...

• Mon - Wed @ 7:45 am
• Thursday & Friday - 1st period only

Upcoming dates

• Optional practice - Tuesday 1/4 from 4:15 to 5:15
• Contest Routine Tryouts - Tuesday 1/11 @ 8:00

Heads up for contest season!!

• Hair = Left side part, low ponytail
• Make-up = Purple eyeshadow, red lipstick
• If the tights/dance shoes that were provided to you over the summer are not in performance condition, please make arrangements to replace these items before contest; Absolutely no holes/runs in your tights!!! Start double checking this stuff NOW :)

The spring semester is VERY busy and full of exciting events. We definitely are hitting the ground running - but it will be worth it. Our first contest is 5 weeks from Saturday!!!!
